How to Draw a face....

Please find the below description about how to draw a face with proper proportion:

Ideally body length should be 7and half times lengthier than size of the face till neck.Shape of the face is like an egg,see pic1.and divide it in to 3 portions each in the middle of rest of the space,to draw eye and ear in same level, nose and at last lips.See pic 2 and Pic 3

How to Draw a Human Head
*********************************************************************************
1. Start by drawing three oval shapes, one large one and 2 smaller ones on the left and right side of the large oval. Add also thin guidelines such as a vertical line and two horizontal lines to serve as  a guide in drawing the eyes and mouth of the model.

2. Then using the first guideline draw now the eyes. In drawing the eyes draw a pointy oblong shape with four circles in it, add also some wavy eyelashes since for this picture the model used is a young woman.

3. Lines to illustrate her eyelid. Then in the middle of the face and along the vertical guideline draw now her nose.In drawing the nose, remember to make the lines broken to achieve an effect

4. Now draw the lips on the second horizontal guideline. Finally draw her hair and a squiggly line on her left ear and then you’re done drawing her.

5. Outline your drawing with a black pen or marker and then apply an amount of shading on your drawing using a charcoal pencil or a regular pencil. And then apply a minimal amount of colour by colouring her lips and eyes.

Drawing Human Body

Here we will learn  how to draw different figures..

We should be well clear about the anatomy of a man/woman for this.
The shape of a male human body is depicted in the figure.Sholders, chest and hands have peculiar muscular shape which varies with age/body nature. If hand is held straight,it should not touch his knee, rather it will be at the middle of hip and knee.
For a female human body different body parts ar having its own features based on age and body nature.Bodyparts will be little more smoother and flexible.Height and weight should be less than a comaparable man.
Hand is held straight,it should not touch his knee, rather it will be at the middleof hip and knee.
Symmetry of body should be maintained with respect to axis of the person as shown in the above figure.

Hence basic steps for drawing a human body are as follows:

1.Plan your drawing. Draw some vertical and horizontal lines to plan your drawing.Planning is also important for the proportion of the drawing. Measure the figure by seeing how many times the head fits in the body height.

2.Draw some basic shapes to represent the parts of the body by using a pencil. Circles, rectangles, ovals andtriangles can be used. For the varieties of human figures, you can also use different kinds and sizes of circles and ovals, etc. For example, to draw a fat man, you can use a big oval for his body part.To draw a short girl, you can use small and short ovals, rectangles and circles.According to your imagination and creativity, you can alter or use different kinds of shapes to make your drawings funny or strange.

3.Sketch the outlines lightly using a pencil. This step is important as you need to try to draw your figure
in a realistic and lively way.

4.Draw the details of the drawing i.e. clothes, accessories. You can use a pen to finalize your drawing. You can put your desired clothes and colors.
We will meet soon with how to draw a face...Watch out....

Pencil Drawing:Features of face

Pencil Drawing

Pencil and charcol usually used to draw pencil drawings. As a beginner it is always suggested to learn pencil drawng before hands on to dealling with colors.

Body Parts:Face...

EYE:

Eye drawing is very important and accuracy should be maintained.Normally with HB,2B pencils we draw eye and its shades..
We need to leave the paper white whereever light touches the eye,and softly darken other places.Cornia should be darker than the other eyeball parts.eyelidsshould be clear and shaped.Picture of an eye is as shown.
EAR:
It is very easy to draw an ear,The shade can be little more soften than eye.Our observation should be there in every picture. It is better to draw first by looking at the photo of these oragans, hence,we will get a clear idea of the same.

NOSE
Nose and its position wrt. to angle of view
is very important for a face.It is like a big bowl
merged with two symmetrical small bowls
.line should be clear and shading is done over it.
LIPS

Lips drawing is very important and so attractive since it has so many options to try.with mouth closed/opened with/without toung/teenth.How ever the shape of lips should be clear for artist.Upper lips is thinner but sharper as compared to lower lips.

We already learned drawing  face.

Next we can learn how to draw different figures, based on the actions. We should be well clear about the anatomy of a man/woman and measures should also be correct for the size of organs.Anatomy varies with age, sex, body nature,lean/fatness etc.We will meet soon with this...

Light and shade

Hello All,

Light and Shade

For every picure, evenif its not under sun light, have a light contrast and shade all the time.Surface irregularities and smoothness can not be shown via same kind of shading.Hence shading itself changes with surfaces also.We uses different colours  to draw shadows and shades.Shapes should be rendered from shades for a picture with prominent shading effect.

Normally colors like violet,Brown,Brown and blue combinations can express shades.

Reflection shadows are those get reflected in smooth floor, water etc,Here we can see the color of the water itself is changing,Hence these surfaces takes the color of its background.

As an example, see the picture above which I have drawn. Here water takes green color as it is inside the greenary. But sunrays do not let it reflect like a mirror. Also, movements of water inside the river/lake causes the imperfections in these shadows.Based on light intensity and force of flow of water, look also changes.

Light and shade in pencil Drawing

Light and shade

Light and shade is a very esssential feature of a picture. An artist should have a clear picture of light and shade concept based on mood, situation and time shown in the picture. For a sunny day,at 12 pm say,the shadows of people would be short and thick,at the same time shades will be sharp and short. But in an evening time, shadows will not be sharp,it will be faded out and opacity will be less, also it will be lengthier than the same seen in 12 pm time.It can be depicted via some pictures. This reprecents basic ideas of light and shade.

For the picture of a sculpture, shading conrast is dependant on its surface ans well as light falled on it.Here is an example.

Here we can see that shading is not done in the normal way as it should be done for a cloth shade, rather it is showing as it is done on stone.Rendering the image from background can be seen in this pic, which I have drawn 4 years earlier.
We can talk about shadows on next post..watch out!!!....

Drawing Tips:Fundamentals

Hi All,

Technical aspects of drawing includes several factors.Composition, perspective, color combination of the situation and so on.
Drawing a face we leraned from my previous post.A drawing of entire human figure again depends on sex, age, features etc.
We will talk about anatamical features later, after completing technical aspects of drawing. These criteria is common even for portrait paintings also.

1.Composition
First and formost thing in artistic drawing is creation of a space inside the drawing sheet for your characters and environment should project. This includes determining where we need to place Characters, which portion should have maximum attraction,Viewing angle determination,Importance of background rendering etc.For an example,Please find below composition example for a Drawing. Here street is on left side and tree is on rihght side.We can draw this in opposite way also. And again,we can render street in the middle also.
Putting figure in the comosition is also a talented, creative task.

2.Viewing angle
For this picture, viewing angle is elevation:same as straight eyesite. We can have different viewing angle for the street also, like a top view, looking from the top of the tree.or elevated view,if we are looking from a lower attitude.

3.Perspective.
The size versus distance relation should be maintained in every picture.Size of a human being will always be less than half the length of a tree, but again if the human is very near to our view and tree is at a distance, that matching can be different. In the example picture shown above,Electrical posts are arranged in such a way that concept of perspective vision of human eye is clear.Even if all electric posts have same size, depending on distance,in a propotion of distance of eyesite of user to the compositon,It varies.

I can upload scanned images for every example and show in a more friendly way in upcoming posts..Watch out..!!

Portrait Tips:Selecting a portrait

Hello all,
There are several things we need to take care well before drawing and selecting a porttrait

1.Where it needs to be fitted.

It can be light colored wall, outdoor, dark background, etc.Based on the color scheme of the backgorund we need to select portrait.

2.Tools used.

We can use Oil paintings,Watercolors,Drawings etc based on the selected platform. For example ,The picture"Horse"given in the previous post is made to be fitted on an offwhite wall and it is a brush stick style of watercolor painting, for projecting it better.

3.Aspect Ratio

Proper aspect ratio which will enhance the viewing easyness we have to take care of.16*10 is a very common aspect ratio for landscape pictures. It is in the opposite way for portraits.

4.Positioning&Composition
These are very important aspects if we consider the view of an artist in drawing a picture.

I can provide more update on this in next post...Watch out...!!!!
